Summer is gone all to quickly. I haven’t been riding as much as I would like to have but the weather and other things that need to get done get in the way. Still manage to get some long rides in. Cycling can be dangerous in other ways as well on one of the rides my son spotted a nice little 2000 Suzuki for sale with only 65,000 kms on it. He ended up going back to check the car out bought it. His plan was to resell it and make a few bucks. Well turns out when he went away on holidays I borrowed the car for a week and didn’t want to return. Well, you got it, I ended up buying it off of him. Love it, great little car. My old car I used for running around in was a 94 Geo so this is a set-up from there. Cheaper on gas than my van and easier to get around.
After that I ended up doing a quick trip out Kelowna, BC with my brother who lives in Regina. We were picking up his grandson who spends the summer holidays at my sister house in Kelowna. Always nice to see the mountains again. Our trip included a breakdown in Banff, well we limped into Banff and found a garage. This was on a Friday night and he wasn’t able to look at the my brother’s van until Tuesday. So we ended up getting a U-drive and carried on to Kelowna. After the van was fixed (major tune-up) we went back to Banff to get the van and return the U-drive. Banff is so crowed this time of year, just packed with people and cars with no where to park. Got the van, had lunch and headed back to Kelowna in the pouring rain. That following Sunday headed back for home. It was a good trip (too quick). I was just going along for the ride to keep my brother company. I always find the trips that are not planned are always the better ones. Other that the van breakdown this trip went well and we had a great visit.
Getting back home. The weather is changing all to fast and I hope we still get some nice days in. Right now it is pouring rain out and I had high hopes of doing a car show this afternoon but that isn’t going to happen.
On the Tropical fish side of things. I have made and don’t plan on making anymore purchases. I have lots of fancy guppies and they all seem to be doing well. I happened to pickup a 25 gallon aquarium (free) and I’m in the process of making room for it on top of my work bench for it. So any heavy banging and sawing I need to do will have to be done outside. Which is okay with me. This tank will be for the Goldfish who are in the pond right now and will be coming in for the winter. So this tank will be just great for them.
I didn’t even get in as much fishing as I wanted to. We did manage a few trips to the Red River but haven’t landed any big catfish yet this year. This time of year it usually gets better. I have been known to fish until the snow flies anyway.
